Chef Preston in the Kitchen!

One day at snack time Preston told me he needed:

"Gam Cack-ers, Peanut Butt-y, and Nin-ees."
(Nin-ees = marshmallows.....figure that one out...)

He wanted them all put together into "wan-iches!"
That would be "Sandwiches" for those who don't speak "Preston."

So we made graham cracker sandwiches.

I think he made his first recipe!

And it was really good!!!!

A sweet little wristlet for me

One thing I was missing on our trip to the Domincan Republic was a tiny little wristlet to carry a few things in the evenings.

I have been looking for one this week for our next trip and just couldn't find one I really liked.

So I made one.

I think it turned out pretty cute and is just the right size too!

It's pretty tiny.
It measures about 6" across the top and it's 6" tall.

Two things I love about this bag:
1. I made it out of my scrap box
and
2. I just started cutting so there were no pattern pieces or directions to follow!!!!

Peighton must have liked it too...she asked if she could borrow it sometime!
Guess I'll be making a few more of these.

The egg casserole with "leaves..."

I made an egg casserole over the weekend.

It happened to have fresh spinach in it.

Preston was sitting at the counter while I was mixing it up.

As I added the spinach he creased his forehead together and said,

"Why we eat LEAVES, MOMMY???!!!!"

Dustin and I both laughed so hard.
I love the honesty of a two year old.

It turned out to be a pretty good egg dish!
Even WITH the leaves in there!!!!!!!!!

Egg Casserole with "Leaves"

1 (32 oz) package frozen hashbrowns
1 lb sausage, cooked and drained
2 cups diced ham
2 cups fresh baby spinach
1/2 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
1/2 cup chopped onions
2 cup cheddar cheese
1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies (I threw in a jar of homemade salsa)
12 eggs, beaten

Grease a 9x13 pan.
Layer 1/2 the hashbrowns, 1/2 the meats, all of the spinach, all of the mushrooms and all of the onions.
Then add the rest of the hashbrowns, and meat.
Mix the tomatoes and eggs, then pour over the top.
Top with the cheese.

Bake at 350 for about an hour or until the eggs are cooked through.

A little 50's fun!

Dustin and I went to a "50's Sock Hop" themed fundraiser over the weekend.

It was really fun!

Check out our little photo bomber!

In our group we had a Pink Lady, a poodle skirt and lots of polka dots!

Without knowing it, Katy and I bought the same exact dress online.
I'm not sure how that's even possible but we did it!

Check out that hair!!!!!
A lady that I'm pretty sure actually lived through the 50's complimented me about my hair and thought it was very true to the time period!
And she took a picture of it. ;-)

TWINS!
We did accessorize differently though so unless we stood right next to each other I don't think it was really obvious.

Peighton counted the pins that came out of my hair the next morning...she counted 24 of them!
I don't think I could stand my  hair like that every day, it was a bit painful!

Fingerpainting with the Crew!

Preston wanted a "Project" this morning.

Since the twins are here this week I needed something they could try to do with us.

Preston LOVES to paint...but I just wasn't sure if I wanted to paint with 3 short people when 0/3 of them actually follows directions!!!!!!!!

I had seen this fingerpainting idea on a preschool website and it is FABULOUS!!!!!

I put their paper and thier paint inside a big ziploc and let them squish it, squeeze it, lick it and throw it!

Lane loved it and squished away for quite awhile.

Preston of course loves squishing anything!

Hayden used more of a crumbling method but it got the job done.

I knew they would eventually start chewing on it!

We started out on the picnic table but they decided the floor was better.

We had a lot of fun and I know Preston will request to do this again.
The pictures are going to be cute cut into some Springy shapes!

Chocolate Pumpkin muffins

These are really GOOD.

And Easy.

Two of my favorite things!

And they only need 5 ingredients,
4 if you don't count the water!

Chocolate Muffins

1 box chocolate cake mix
2 egg whites
1/2 cup water
1 (15 oz) can of pumpkin
3/4 cup chocolate chips

Stir it all together.
Line muffin tin with baking cups or spray with cooking spray.
Fill cups about 2/3 full.
Bake at 350 for 16-20 minutes.

I thought they would have more pumpkin flavor since there is a whole can of pumpkin in it.
They are definately more chocolate flavored than pumpkin.

Preston and the twins gave them their stamp of approval at snack time!
I should have taken a picture of their faces-they were  covered!

Our Trip to the Dominican Republic

Dustin and I got to take a quick trip to the Dominican Republic...
WITHOUT kids!!!!

We had a great time and had some fun adventures.

We chose to swim with dolphins for our "excursion."
On past trips we've always chosen a trip to the spa but this time we decided to try something new.
Swimming with the dolphins was so much fun!

Our dolphin was "Don Juan."
He danced with us, kissed, jumped over us and swam with us holding onto their fins!

I think when the kids are a bit older I'd love to do it with them.

Don Juan was a great dance partner.

I also bought the video of our time with the dolphins but it's really not very pretty.
I do not like salt water in my eyes or mouth so every time the dolphin swam with me I had my eyes and mouth squeezed shut!
The kids like watching it...they've watched it about 100 times already and they don't seem to mind my facial expressions!

We also got to see a bird show while at the dolphin place:

They didn't seem to get along and were quite loud.

This one had a grocery list...it consisted of liquor,

and another bottle of liquor.

We also got a "welcome kiss" from a sea lion.
His nose reminded me of a pig.

In our room was two bottles of "Mamajuana," a local drink, two bottles of vanilla, and a box of cocoa.
We haven't tried the Mamajuana yet but the cocoa made some yummy cookies this afternoon!

I got to use one of my cute beach bags while I sat on the beach.
I also managed to finish TWO books in  between the pina coladas!

Peighton told me "I missed you while you were gone....but I wasn't sad because we had donuts!"

Can't wait for our next trip!
