More Iowa State Fair fun!

The boys joined us for the weekend and we had lots more fun.

Who doesn't need a family picture on the giant beer chair!!!!!

The baby dairy calves are always a hit.
We visited them quite a few times throughout the week.

These girls crack me up.

Little Hands on the Farm is always fun.
Giant pile of dirt to dig in = fun for all.

Even Peighton enjoys a little time in the dirt.

We waited quite awhile to do our lap on the tractors.

We were excited to find an Olaf at Little Hands on the farm!

These two made good choices on what to spend their dollar on!

We love running into the State Fair ribbons!

This was a very fun find.
We raced tigers and horses around a track!

Peighton loved it!

Bubba couldn't go very fast but did a good job.

We found the ribbons again!

We joined the Blue Ribbon Kids Club this year.
Such a fun thing to do each day!
We got to plants seeds and make a yummy dirt cup.

Everybody loves a good dirt cup!

We also caught the tiger show that day.
It was hot and we didn't make it to the end but we did like seeing the tigers!

Giant cow topiary.
Peighton wanted a picture.

And she gave it a hug.

First day of SECOND grade!

After our crazy two weeks at the state fair it was time to start school.

This girl was so excited for the first day!

Her bag has been packed for weeks.

I think Preston was just as excited for her first day so it could just be "me and him."
I don't think he stopped talking at all that day.
I guess there was no one to interrupt him and he had lots to say!

He starts preschool next week and he can't wait!

NOTHING compares to the Iowa State Fair!

We had a GREAT time at the 2014 Iowa State Fair.
They say "Nothing Compares" to the 10 days of fun and it is absolutely true!

For the first time this year we tried out camping on the State Fair campgrounds.
It was 12 days of serious FUN.

The first night was rainy so Katy and I basically threw everything into the camper and tried our best to organize everything...with 4 excited kids and a dog running around in a VERY small space!
We had hoped to go to the parade but it just wouldn't stop raining.
Maybe next year!

The first day was rainy and a bit chilly but we made the best of it!
Occasionally Peighton and Hayden shared a stroller.

Preston was the only one who wanted to meet Clifford.

We experienced the big boar contest for the first time.
While we waited everyone enjoyed their first corndog of the week.

Seeing these huge animals was really neat.
All the kids liked watching them walk around the ring and get weighed.

The concrete statues this year were the shape of Iowa.
We had fun finding all the unique paintings.
The theme on this one was bacon...we love bacon.

Preston has had a love/hate relationship with the giant slide over the  years.
This year he was determined to do it himself.
And he DID!

By the end of the slide he was laying completely flat...but he got up smiling NOT crying for the first time ever!!!!!

Hayden did not enjoy it nearly as much as Preston.

We always find somebody's pigs to pet.

Hayden was very interested in brushing this pig.

Preston loved the tractor shaped Iowa!

These head things are a must do for these two.
They are all over the fair and we HAD to stop at each one....multiple times.

Up close and personal with the big boar!

Such a great start to the week!
I have lots more pictures to share of our fun and crazy time so check back!

So, this boy turned FOUR and had a party.

Preston has been into bull riding and cowboys lately.

Of course that's what he wanted for a birthday party.
It was a bit difficult to find bull riding stuff for a party!

Cowboy hats were a must!

Even Aunt Pam wore one!

He got an awesome pair of binoculars to check for deer with daddy.

Preston requests a piñata every year.
We found a classic fiesta bull for this year-it was about the only thing that went with our theme!

Good thing he had a few bull riding toys that worked perfectly for his cake!

He was very patient while I took a few pictures!

He also got a fabulous fishing vest complete with a compass.
He told me if he gets lost he'll be sure to use it. ;-)
