A little birdie skirt for Peighton

Preston and I wandered around Kalona a few weeks ago while we waited for Dustin to meet us for lunch.

We went to one of the cute fabric shops there.
Preston likes it...they have toys.
I like it...they have fabric. ;-)

I got some cute little birdies and matching polka dots to make a new skirt for Peighton.
She is getting so tall and growing out of things!

I used this Oliver and S pattern to make the skirt.
badminton skort, top + dress sewing pattern

I love the little scallop at the bottom!

It's so fun and cheerful and ready for spring!!!!!

A super cute pattern I tested!

I love testing patterns!

I just finished an adorable skirt that has shorts attached underneath-perfect for the girl who only wears skirts and dresses but still likes to be upside down on the playground!
(That would be Miss Peighton!!!!)

This pattern was from Petite Kids Boutique.
I have a few other patterns of hers and they have all been great!
Very easy and usually pretty quick to complete.

The green ruffle has an exposed seam...I am not a big fan of it and next time I think I'll skip that and make a regular hidden seam-it just looks cleaner!

Peighton LOVES these cherries and so do I!
We even made another outfit out of them so we'll have lots of cherries this summer!

Skirt from STITCH

I think I've mentioned before how much I adore Stitch Magazine.

So many new and exciting projects in each issue.
Home Decor, clothing, kids stuff, baby stuff.
There is a project for everyone in there!

And I often find all kinds of other useful stuff too.

This skirt caught my eye immediately.
It's very "me."
I love skirts in the summertime.
So easy to wear and they make just about anybody look cute.

This one just looked fun and a bit different from all the others in my closet.
I did hesitate just a bit after I read the directions...it has a zipper....and I do not heart zippers.
But I decided to give it a try....again.
I've failed at many zippers over my short sewing career.

However....I may have turned a corner with my zipper installation.
This one turned out GREAT!
I really couldn't believe it.

The skirt is pretty cute too! ;-)

Another Vintage pattern!

Peighton wanted the skirt with suspenders for our next vintage project.  I was glad she didn't choose the bell bottoms and vest combo!!!!!
Notice that the pattern is only $1.00!!!

Not sure why it's a super bad picture but you get the idea!  It was a very easy  pattern and Miss Peighton loves that it has "Spenders."  I think it will be a great addition to her summer wardrobe!  Or winter with long sleeves, tights and her fabulous boots!
