Fingerpainting with the Crew!

Preston wanted a "Project" this morning.

Since the twins are here this week I needed something they could try to do with us.

Preston LOVES to paint...but I just wasn't sure if I wanted to paint with 3 short people when 0/3 of them actually follows directions!!!!!!!!

I had seen this fingerpainting idea on a preschool website and it is FABULOUS!!!!!

I put their paper and thier paint inside a big ziploc and let them squish it, squeeze it, lick it and throw it!

Lane loved it and squished away for quite awhile.

Preston of course loves squishing anything!

Hayden used more of a crumbling method but it got the job done.

I knew they would eventually start chewing on it!

We started out on the picnic table but they decided the floor was better.

We had a lot of fun and I know Preston will request to do this again.
The pictures are going to be cute cut into some Springy shapes!

DIY Bathtub paint

Winter in Iowa seems to bring out the best of the messy projects for me!
My kids LOVE painting.
And they love bathtime.

Combine the two and you have 2 very happy and messy (and clean) kiddos!

Peighton got some bath paints for Christmas....and quickly used them in one bath session.

I had pinned this recipe on Pinterest and my friend Erin had made some with her kids.
So, we decided to make a batch instead of buying more!

DIY Bath paints recipe
I didn't really measure anything.
I poured about 1/2 a bottle of baby shampoo in a bowl and dumped in some cornstarch.
I divided it into 4 bowls.
I put 2 drops of food coloring into each and we quickly had pink, purple, turquoise and lime green bath paints!

Then we went straight to the tub.
I put them in without water so the paint wouldn't just go into the water.

He usually does not like things on his hands....and didn't love this at first but he got over it!

Peighton went right to work creating a masterpiece!
We also drew letters. numbers and shapes.

I love a messy little boy!!!!!

They had a blast.
Good clean fun at it's best!

We made our own stamps!

I saved a bunch of milk and juice caps the past few weeks.

Then we stuck foam stickers on them and we had stamps!

This guy loves when we bust out the paints.

We had a fun morning of stamping and painting!

I used washable finger paints for this because Preston tends to paint a bit of everything...

This was a super easy project that we will for sure be doing again!

Bathtub painting...another Pinterest idea!

I am just so in love with Pinterest.

If you haven't taken a peek at it just do it!
I have found so many fun things to do on there!

Even Dustin made something from the wonderful Pinterest this weekend!!!
I'll reveal that at a later date though...it's not all put together yet and it does require some (more involved) work on my end too.  Guess it's a joint project. ;-)

Here is out latest SIMPLE fun:

Shaving Cream with food coloring for the bathtub!

I went easy on the food coloring because I didn't want stained hands or a stained bathtub!
I think I did 2 drops into each mini muffin cup.
Probably could have added more and had brighter colors-maybe next time!

The mini muffin tins worked GREAT-it was like a little painters palette.

They had a great time painting and drawing and then of course cleaning it off!

Another successful night because of Pinterest.

CLEAN fingerpainting!

I know what you're saying...

That is just NOT possible.

Oh but it is!
And so much fun too!!!

I did this a few times with the preschool class I taught and it was always a lot of fun.

All you need:

Ziploc Bag
Fingerpaint
Q-tips

Just put a few colors of paint into the bag making sure to squeeze out as much air as possible.
Then let them squish it around!
It's fabulous and all the mess stays inside!!!!

Peighton used the Q-tip to make letters, spell words, draw shapes and pictures, etc.

Preston, he just did a lot of squishing!

I also hung his on the sliding glass door for a bit and let him use more of his gross motor skills.
And it looks pretty cool in the sunlight too!

Then he had to go read about his tractors...priorities.

We did this a few days ago and Peighton is still playing with hers and practicing letters!
Love it!

Cookie Cutter Painting

Yes, another painting activity.  The girl loves to paint.
And so we paint.

Today, we busted out some of my hundreds of cookie cutters-no joke.  I had a bridal shower where everyone had to bring a cookie cutter along with thier gift. I pretty much have any cookie cutter we could ever need!

We chose a whole lot of SPRING cookie cutters (and some random lips) because we are really looking forward to spring.  Yesterday, Peighton showed me a spot where "there's no snow so we can probably get my pool out tomorrow."  Ummmm....not yet my friend.

This one's pretty simple.  All you need:
Cookie Cutters
Paint (we used finger paint)
Some big paper
Paper Plate

Spread the paint on the plate and let em go!

This is great for making your own wrapping paper-what Grandma wouldn't LOVE that!!!

She was displaying the Lips cutter here.  We should have used those for Valentine's cookies!

We spread the paint a bit on the plate to make it better for dipping.

Love the Springy prints she made!
