Mark Twain, Hannibal, MO and Honeycreek!

 

We took a quick camping trip down to Hannibal, MO and we learned a bit about Mark Twain!

 

 

We stayed at Mark Twain Landing.

It was a fun and different experience than all the other camping places we've been.

There was a water park, mini golf, bike trails, fishing-LOTS to do.

 

 

We took a tour of Mark Twain Cave.

Both kids LOVED it.

We learned a lot about the cave and all the people who have passed through there.

The one that impressed Preston the most was Jesse James after he had robbed a bank!

We walked for the entire tour and saw lots of interesting things along the way.

 

 

It was COLD in the cave!

 

We also took a ride on a paddle boat down the Mississippi.

 

Preston thought we should take a "mad" picture.

 

They did really enjoy it though!

 

Three of us have matching "Happy Camper" shirts.

The fourth isn't participating.

We needed a quick photo.

 

We also visited the Mark Twain museum.

So much fun!

 

One of their favorite things at the museum.

 

He REALLY liked the horn.

 

The fence that inspired the story of Huckleberry Finn is still there and it even has some paint brushes!

 

These two cannot resist the cutout head murals.

 

The next weekend we headed off to Honeycreek!

Preston got an early birthday present since they love to ride scooters when we camp.

 

This was right before Peighton had a MAJOR wipeout and came back crying and covered in mud.

She was fine and Dustin and I couldn't stop laughing.

 

They also got a little boat riding and fishing in with Grandpa Dale and Dustin.

 

A trip to Honeycreek isn't complete without a few stops at the waterpark!

 

We love it!

 

We spent a LOT of time in the Lazy River!

We had lots of fun camping!

It's next stop is the county fair-the kids can't wait!

First camping trip of 2015!

Somewhere around February Preston started asking when we could go camping.

And it hasn't stopped since then.

 

 

We FINALLY got it out for some weekend fun last weekend.

 

 

Preston couldn't have been happier.

 

They've been waiting all year for SMORES!

 

I think someone has outgrown his camping chair.

 

Saturday turned out to be pretty nice and we spent some time at the playground.

 

Cy came along too.

 

It was pretty windy but we did a little fishing.

 

They spent some time drowning some worms.

 

Everyone enjoys a little fishing.

 

Preston did catch a nice Bass later in the day but that was the ONLY fish caught all weekend.

We can't wait for nice weather and more camping!

Camping and Fishing and FUN!

 

 

Little Cy has officially become a camping dog!

He fit in pretty well and was fairly well  behaved...except for the time he took a poop in the camper.

But we forgave him because he is just so cute.

 

The kids got me a comfy camping chair....guess who never gets to sit in it...ME!!!!!

 

 

Cy took a few naps there and Peighton steals it every chance she gets!

 

 

Preston worked on his catching skills.

 

I even caught an action shot!

 

The kids tried out the top bunks and declared "They were awesome!"

Preston liked crawling up and down the ladder...and crawling across the top of the cabinet to annoy his sister.

He's sweet like that.

 

She tolerated him...for the most part.

 

Fishing lessons from your Great Grandpa are priceless.

 

Preston is one of the cutest little fisherman ever.

 

Everyone got a few tips from Grandpa Dale too.

 

We tried for a group picture...which is always a challenge!

 

Semi-successful when no one is crying!

 

 

The back of the truck is always fun!

 

Even though it rained most of the time we were at Lake Red Rock and our campsite had its own river flowing down it at times we had a great time!

It's a good thing I have the camper stocked with lots of games, art projects and activities because we played EVERY SINGLE ONE while it rained!!!!

 

We rode bikes, fished, boated, grilled and just had fun!
