A photo shoot with Daddy

We got a text from Dustin Saturday morning...
bring out the camera, he got a deer with his bow.

They like to play in the tall grass...it must have been a little bright!

Preston made sure to bring his "Shoot-gun."

Dustin had to hold Preston if he was going to be anywhere near the deer.

Peighton was not exactly dressed in her Camo gear. :-)
I don't think there will be a lot of deer hunting in her future...she just can't stay away from Pink!

"Nothing Compares" to the Iowa State Fair!

The theme of the fair this year is "Nothing Compares."

We agree, there is absolutely NOTHING that compares to the Great Iowa State Fair!

Dustin and I have been to State Fairs in North Carolina, Indiana and Nebraska and they do not even come close to the one here in Iowa.

Dustin had a meeting at the fair this weekend so we rode along and spent a couple days there.

Peighton and Preston like the first weekend of the fair because "Those Heiller Girls" have pigs at the fair!

We spent a bit of time playing with Mary's pigs.

Preston likes a clean pig and needed to brush all the sawdust off her.

They REALLY liked spraying them with water.

Can you believe I used to babysit this girl!!!!!
It is so fun to see her with my own kids now.

On the top of Peighton's "to-do list" is the Giant Slide.

Preston HATED it last year.
He must have forgotten that though and was sure he wanted to do it with Peighton and Dustin.
I share his hatred for the slide and will not be going down it ever again.

Let's take a look at how it played out this year:

Looks to me like he is clinging to Dustin in this picture...

Peighton could hardly wait to get down it-she LOVES it.

Preston looks to be doing ok in this picture.
Peighton is obviously a pro.

And here is Preston's "OH SH**" moment.
He was screaming by the time they got to the bottom.

He claims he is going to do it again next weekend.
Pretty sure the results will be the same...

We caught a bit of The Nadas concert Friday evening.
Preston is so happy with just a pile of dirt and a stick.

We started Saturday morning with a trip to "Little Hands on the Farm," another of our faves.

We love the Pioneer visors they gave out this year!
Peighton wore hers the rest of the day.

Any sort of head cut-out is a must-do for us...

The statues this year are ribbons and they are so cute!
We loved the cow one!

I love seeing the fair through Peighton and Preston's eyes.
We stopped and watched the baby ducks for awhile.
They were adorable.

Yet another cut-out. ;-)

This one is our favorite ribbons!
Go Cyclones!

We can't wait for more fun adventures next week at the fair!

Preston is THREE!

"Bubba" is officially 3!

He had a great day filled with all the things he loves:
Sausage for breakfast
Candles in his waffle
McDonald's chicken nuggets for lunch
An Oreo stacking contest at the Fair
Animals at the Fair
And Fair Food!

He woke up to a huge train table just waiting for a little boy to play with it.

And he played with it almost ALL DAY!
He loves it!

Sausage and waffles are his favorite and candles make it even better.

He got some new legos.

And a bit of John Deere fun!

Oreo stacking at the fair...not officially old enough but when Grandpa is in charge it's ok!

Last, but not least, or annual bear picture with Scruffy!

SNOW DAY!!!!!

What do we do on a snow day?

Make PINK Mickey Mouse pancakes of course!!!!!

Peighton was a little sad when I told her there was no school today....it was the "100th day" party in kindergarten!
So, when I offered to make "Mow-Cakes" (as preston calls them) it cheered her right up!

How can you not smile while eating Mouse shaped pancakes?

We pretended we were back at Disney.

Now we are onto school work and reading and lots of playing for the rest of our snow day!

Princess Peighton and Princess Nellie

Peighton had such a great summer.
One of her favorite parts was taking a little trip with grandma Deb.

Princess Peighton and Princess Nellie went to an adorable little shop in Pella that has American Girl stuff!
I am super jealous that I didn't get to go!

Nellie now has her own tiara...and glittery shoes....and wand.

And Preston got a cute little dog that his Great Grandma Carol made him!
He's nice and soft and makes a great wrestling partner.
Preston's favorite part is the tongue!!!!!

Day one of the babies

Last week Preston lost his buddy, Peighton.

This week he gained two new buddies:
Hayden and Lane.
("Hay-Zane" according to Preston)

I won't say he LOVED the first morning....

The first meltdown happened when we had to walk Peighton to the bus.
I pulled the double jogging stroller over to load the babies up.
Preston sat in one of the seats and would NOT get out.

Eventually he did decide he would like to walk and gave his seat to Lane.

Then he didn't want to walk back to the house so I had to carry him and push the babies.
I should have let him back in the stroller and carried little Lane!

When we got inside it was time to feed Hayden and Lane their oatmeal.

I have two booster seats that Preston USED to use and hasn't sat in for at least 3 months.
Well, today, he didn't want ANYONE else to sit in them.
So, the second meltdown took place when I put Hayden in the highchair that clips onto the counter.
He had real tears for this one.

Cried the ENTIRE time I fed them.
Good times.

They had a little more playtime and we put them down for a nap.
I decided to make something new for Preston and maybe he wouldn't be quite so sad!

I mixed vegetable oil, water and a little paint in a clean mayo jar.
I also super glued the lid shut!

He thought it was pretty cool.
I told him it was only for big boys.
He keeps turning it different ways to watch it seperate.
I think we need another one with glitter!

Love it when something cheap and easy and quick makes my boy happy!

Her first day of Kindergarten...

I cannot believe the day finally came.
Peighton has been religiously counting down ever since we went to the "meet the teacher" afternoon.

Today was the day.
She is officially a kindergartener.

And oh my was she EXCITED.

This was her first day of a little Kids Day Out program and the first time she went to "school."

And here is her first day of kindergarten:

She was just bursting with excitement.

She put her bag away and sat down and got to work like she owned the place.

Pretty sure she's going to like school.

I probably should have taken a few pictures of Preston from today.
He sat in the backseat of the car and whined for "Issy" for about 20 minutes after we left the school.
Then about every 10 minutes after that he must have remembered she wasn't with us...because he would ask for her.
So sad.
Maybe tomorrow will be better for the little guy.
Or maybe we'll just buy a new tractor.
