Homemade Mini Bagel Bites!

Still hot outside.
So, we decided to do  a cooking lesson!

Peighton chose Mini Bagel Bites.

Super easy and the kids did all but the cooking!

We assigned Preston the Mini Pepperoni Job...and he ate half the bowl before he actually got ONE on the pizzas!!!!!

Peighton spread the sauce and put the cheese on.

Once he found out he was supposed to put them on the pizzas and it wasn't just snack time he did a very good job and was quite serious about it!

We broiled them for a few minutes  and lunch was served!

A whole lot of John Deere Party FUN!

We spent the weekend celebrating little Preston's second birthday!

He is OB-Sessed with tractors....so of course we had a tractor theme.

I made a cute little pennant banner to hang above the food table.

Cheap green and yellow hankies from Hobby Lobby brightened up the table and tin buckets held the plates, napkins and silverware.

One of the party favors...tractor shaped crayons!

I made each of the kids a small backpack to put their pinata loot in!

Peighton had the job of picking out all the green and yellow peanut M&M's for our snack mix!

Every little farmer needs a John Deere wheelbarrow!

Mike was not working fast enough getting his tractors out of the box...note the hands on hips...

Getting all his new equipment set up.

Dirt pudding was on the menu...complete with a "Dozie"  (Bulldozer).

Jello jigglers and lemonade punch too!

Everybody got a party hat!

Getting a picture of everyone in thier hats proved impossible.

Super cute cake and a pretty cute little boy too!

He has become a professional candle blower.

he thought he should taste it...

"I have no idea who took a bite of the cake, Mommy."

No party is complete without a pinata!!!!

A great weekend celebrating a special little boy!

A Very Hungry Caterpillar shower!

We had a lovely little shower for my SIL a few weeks ago!

Every baby shower that I've thrown has been about books.
I don't believe anyone can ever have too many books.

Our theme for this one was one of my favorite books-The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
And there just happens to be fabric that goes along with the Eric Carle book. ;-)

I used my mom's Cricut machine to make some cute caterpillars to greet everyone.

The guest book was actually a large board book of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The book even came with a DVD of Eric Carle reading the book!

I made a cute pennant with the fabric.
It would be cute in a playroom someday!

My super sweet helper!

I also made a blankie, burpcloth and bib to match!

My other SIL made this adorable diaper caterpillar!
He's even got some cute little Cyclone socks on!

It looked fabulous on the main table!

And we made some yummy cake balls to decorate the tables too.

I used the fabric to make some soft blocks and a ring stacking toy.
My two kiddos REALLY liked the ring stacking toy...

Even the food was cute.
I made some caterpillar sugar cookies.
And oranges, apples and mini apples too-all with small holes in them because the caterpillar eats through all those things in the book!

The caterpillar kabobs were one of my favorites though!
We used strawberries for the heads and green grapes for the body...adorable.

This was a very fun shower to put together and pretty easy too!

Fair 2012

My kids love the fair.
Peighton would have spent a whole lot more time there this year had it not been so hot.
So, we spent a lot of evenings at the fair when it was maybe 2 degrees cooler!

Even though it was hot we still managed to have a lot of fun!

Getting ready for the oreo stacking contest...she must have been thinking about her strategy here.

He was happy he got a sucker.

She was a very determined oreo stacker!
She ended up with 3rd place.

We hit all the "kids day" activites too.

Preston is still working on his hula hooping skills.

I think they had the most fun in the horse barn throwing bits into a bucket,

and throwing halters from a saddle!

He was loving sitting in the saddle.

Deep in thought again before the money scramble...

Preston was just glad he wasn't left out this time!

Preston had been digging in the sawdust all week...maybe he was practicing for the money scramble?

Peighton did awesome at the money scramble!
And it always helps when Grandpa is running it!!!

Smores Dip

We needed an afternoon activity.

Of course I went to Pinterest and browsed my recipes I have pinned there.
Peighton thought THIS one looked yummy.

And I even had everything in the pantry to make it!!!!!
The short people were even able to help make most of it!

S'more Dip photo

ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
  • 1/2 cup marshmallow creme
  • 1 box (13 oz) graham cracker honey sticks

directions

1) In small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips and condensed milk on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until chips are melted. Stir to mix well. Pour into 9-inch glass pie pan, spreading evenly.
2) Drop marshmallow creme by tablespoonfuls randomly over chocolate mixture. Microwave on High about 30 seconds or until marshmallow creme is softened. Immediately with knife, make several small swirls through marshmallow and chocolate, creating a marbled appearance.
3) Serve immediately with graham sticks for dipping.

We also dipped strawberries in ours-that was my favorite!

Anything that involves dipping is awesome!

The strawberries were really good in it!

Sweet little Preston James is TWO!

This sweet little bundle turned two today.

He has been a snuggler since day one.
He has turned into a loving, caring, sweet little boy who has brought so much joy to our lives.
Mr. Preston is quite busy and keeps us laughing most of the time!

He is a tractor loving man to the core.
His "Iss" got him lots of tractors and a very cute carrying case for his birthday.
He spent a little time on mommy's bed playing with everything in his jammies this morning.

He requested "mow cakes" for breakfast...aka Mickey Mouse pancakes.

He blew out candles at breakfast and again after lunch!
He is going to be a pro by the time we have his party!!!!

He also got an awesome "Dump Dactor" for his birthday.
He is OBSESSED with tractors, but has a deep love for backhoes and loaders!
I'm sure he'll be driving around the yard the rest of the summer on this!

Happy Birthday Little Man!
